What´s the best age to start dancing Flamenco?
Any time is a good time to start dancing. There is no age limit for Flamenco. This type of dance helps you exercise not only the body, but also coordination, balance and memory, in a fun and familiar environment.

do i need a partner?
You don't need a dance partner! Flamenco is a solo dance and helps us discover our inner dancer. Without someone to guide or someone to follow, Flamenco becomes an intimate and personal experience that helps you discover new movements, new postures and even new ways of facing life.

how long is the dance course?
Once you start, it is very difficult to quit. The classes at Flamenco House - Brisbane are On-going. That means, after a term (10 weeks) in which we study a particular Flamenco rhythm, known as "palos", we go on to study another, learning its structure, origins and choreography. In this way, more than following steps, we make sure our students learn this dance in a deep and complete way.

what's the difference between latin dance and Flamenco?
It is known as Latin dance, any style that comes from the countries of Latin America, such as: salsa, merengue, bachata, samba, tango, etc. Flamenco comes from Spain, but at the same time it has many influences such as Arab, Jewish, gypsy, African, European and even Latin American; however, it is not considered within the Latin dances

what do i need to wear for the classes?
At the beginning, the use of professional Flamenco shoes and Flamenco skirts are NOT MANDATORY; however, wearing a closed-heeled shoe and a long, loose skirt will be helpful when learning the dance technique. As the students achieve a progression in their level, the use of proper Flamenco dance shoes will be required. The info of where to buy them will be shared in class.

do i need to speak spanish for flamenco classes?
Dance classes are taught in English, however, some words typical of the technique and of this musical genre are taught in Spanish. Throughout the terms, students receive through emails a "Class Review" in which they can find the terminology taught in class for better learning, as well as important points and reference videos/links to enrich their knowledge of Flamenco.
